Chapter 32, page 40-49 here for a higher resolution.
❚ what is learned ➙
● At some as-of-yet-undetermined point in time, she confronted Bors while in the guise of a young girl after he had been isolated from the rest of the Jaegers.
● This aforementioned young girl was from a village burnt to ashes by Bors and his incineration squad. They were suspected of assisting the revolutionary army and thus were put to death.
● Chelsea then killed Bors, one of the Jaegers handpicked to serve directly under General Esdese, and assumed his form.
● Her next target is another Jaeger: Akame's younger sister, Kurome.
● Emotionally, this memory covers a wide spectrum in a single journey: from the calm patience of a seasoned killer, to a resignation tainted with bitterness, to something that's almost regret and almost self-contempt....finally to not just acceptance but a focused resolve.
❚ what this means ➙
○ Chelsea as she is now in Kyriakos will feel strong discomfort and even shades of regret over how that confrontation turned out. Bors was an enemy of Night Raid, he was a dangerous threat that had faithfully done the Empire's dirty work, he would have killed her on sight if he had known who she really was.....but he was also a loyal comrade, a loving husband and father, someone that treated others with kindness when he could.
○ Her self-respect will drop further, but she won't doubt herself nor the path she's chosen; Bors died to bring the corrupt Empire one step closer to a desperately-needed revolution. She did her job and she did it well, not for revenge but to achieve a peaceful future.
